Information about ID cards and link to online security course

In order to apply for a Billund Airport ID card, the company must be registered in the airport’s register. Read more about registering a company under “Company establishment, known supplier, etc.

Once a company has been registered with the airport, the following steps must be completed in order to be issued with an ID card:

  1. The ID card manager should complete an ID card application form in consultation with the employee. Forms are available to download here.

  2. The ID card manager should submit a digital application to the police seeking approval of the employee in question via www.politi.dk.

Please note that shortly after the application is submitted, the employee will receive an email from the National Police of Denmark containing a link which should be signed using their personal NemID. By signing, the employee will be granting their consent to the police to obtain data from the Civil Registration System and the Police Register while processing the application and throughout the approval period.

Note that applications for police approval may take up to 20 days to be processed. Employees are therefore urged to provide their consent using NemID without undue delay.

  1. Once the ID card manager has submitted a digital application to the police, the form stipulated in section 1 should be completed, signed and sent to Billund Airport HR either by email to id-kort@bll.dk or by post addressed to: HR, Passagerterminalen 10, 7190 Billund, Denmark.

    Billund Airport HR will use the application to create an ID card and retain the associated personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Further details about this are provided in the consent section of the application form.

  2. The employee must complete the Security Awareness e-learning course.
    This can be taken using any computer with internet access and Google Chrome by visiting www.e-bll.dk. Employees should log in using their email address (as provided on their application form) and should use the access code supplied by their ID card manager. The employee can then create their own code in order to access the course. The course will be accessible two working days after Billund Airport HR receives the form stipulated in section 1.

  3. The ID card manager will notified when the application has been processed by the police.

  4. In summary
    Before collecting ID cards, the company submitting an application must ensure that the following 5 steps have been completed.

    - Form submitted to Billund Airport (see section 1)
    - ID card manager submits digital application to the police via www.politi.dk
    - Employee signs application using their personal NemID
    - Company receives approval from the police
    - Employee takes and passes security awareness course


Collection of ID cards
ID cards should be collected from HR at Billund Airport. The department is based in the western end of the multi-storey car park on level 1 (facing towards the Zleep hotel). Employees should enter the building via the gable end opposite the departure terminal. There is no need to enter the car park itself. Employees can use the P3 short-stay parking available adjacent to the multi-storey car park.

Individuals must remember to bring photo ID (passport or driver’s licence) and their police approval.

Renewal of ID cards

Police approval of people resident in Denmark will be for a maximum of 5 years. 

In the case of people resident outside of Denmark, including countries such as Germany, police approval will be issued one year at a time. It is important that the company ensures that applications to renew ID cards are submitted no later than 8 weeks prior to the expiry date of employees’ existing ID cards.


Criminal record checks 

It is no longer the responsibility of companies to obtain and retain employees’ criminal record check certificates. This applies both in relation to checks during recruitment and in connection with renewed background checks. Criminal record checks are now handled solely by the police. This also applies to employees without Danish citizenship and employees who have been resident outside Denmark within the last 5 years.

In the event that the police are unable to obtain a foreign criminal record check certificate, they will contact the employee directly and request that they obtain a criminal record check certificate. This will then be assessed by the police.
It is recommended that you attach any foreign criminal record check certificates upon application and where possible.
